I used quite simple/bold large text for the masthead to make it clear and stand out.

The text for the Masthead, Main Flash, Main Sells is Sans Serif.

The rest of the text is Serif in this Flat Plan but will be Sans Serif in the finished magazine.

The MastHead is in Large, Bold, Red text across the whole width of the page.

The letter 'i' is emphasized by making it block text and seperate from the word 'STUDENT'.

The letter 'i' is in lower case and the dot on the 'i' is a picture of an Eye. This will make the magazine look more appealing and less boring to its target audience.

The Main Flash grabs readers attention with the word 'AHOY!'. It comes across as a greeting and will attract the reader. The use of exclamation marks makes the text seem more exciting and important.

The Main Sell 'WIN!' is simple. The word itself will attract the readers attention as they will want to Win. Again, the exclamation mark makes it more exciting.

The Main Sell 'FIND OUT HOW POPULAR YOU REALLY ARE!' emphasizes the word 'YOU' making it personal to the reader.

The date and Issue number are in white text (on a black background) above the MastHead. This makes it clear and easy to find, but doesn't distract the readers from the rest of the cover.

The Barcode is in the top right corner next to the issue number so its out of the way but easy to find.

Contents Page

In the top right corner it says 'I-CONTENTS'.
The typography is the same as the MastHead on the cover, but the word 'STUDENT' is changed to 'CONTENTS'. It also has the picture of an eye as the dot on the 'i'.

The Main Flash and the Main Sells are listed in a yellow box to the left titled 'ON THE COVER'.
This makes it easy for the reader to find out what page those articles are on.

All the other articles in the magazine that weren't on the cover are listed down the right-hand side of the contents page.


There is a picture on the left hand side which will be about a certain article in the magazine and will have a caption and some text underneath it, including the page number.

There is also subscription information in the top left corner.
